A Full House at the Fairtrade Quiz and Cocktails Evening

We had a full house for the Fairtrade Quiz and Cocktails Evening on 5 March. Everyone had a good time, and we were able to demonstrate how Fairtrade products are now so varied and easy to obtain that the Fairtrade Cocktails have become a reality. Recipes for the 3 most popular ones are given below.

We were delighted to discover that Ubuntu Fairtrade Cola went on sale for the first time in Waitrose on 1 March. The first week's sales must have been  good because Fairtrade Chichester bought most of the stock for their Cuba Libra Cocktail!

CUBA LIBRA

Ingredients

2 measures of Fairtrade white rum; crushed ice; squeeze of Fairtrade lime juice; Fairtrade Cola; lime to garnish  

Pour white rum & lime juice into glass

Add crushed ice

Top up with Cok

Slice of lime to garnish  

HAVANA LOCO

Ingredients

2 measures of Fairtrade white rum; crushed ice; Fairtrade Orange juice; slice of Fairtrade orange

    Pour white rum into glass

Add crushed ice

Top up with orange juic

Garnish with slice of orange   

MOJITO (Ernest Hemingway's favourite)

Ingredients

2 measures of Fairtrade white rum; crushed ice; mint leaves; lemonade;Fairtrade lime wedges

Put crushed mint & ice into glass

     Squeeze lime juice on top

     Add white rum     

Top up with lemonade
